Case studies

Every program ends in metal: an alloy cast, tested and qualified on production-scale equipment. Here is what we have delivered and what is in the loop now.

A 100%-recycled aluminum alloy for giga-casting.

Challenge

Giga-castings need an aluminum alloy that keeps its strength and castability, and making it from recycled metal usually means years of trial and error.

Approach

Atomic AI proposed candidate chemistries from 20 years of production data. Dynamic Labs cast and tested them on the same kind of machines that make the part.

2× ductility

Magnesium parts 67% lighter than steel.

Challenge

Magnesium is the lightest structural metal, but low ductility has kept it out of crash-relevant EV structures.

Approach

We developed a high-elongation magnesium alloy and process for structural applications, verified on production-scale die casting.

Recycle the un-recyclable

High-strength aluminum from low-quality mixed scrap.

Challenge

Structural giga- and mega-castings call for clean primary aluminum. Low-quality mixed scrap is cheaper and lower-carbon, but hard to control.

Approach

With a U.S. national laboratory, we are designing the first alloy based fully on low-quality mixed aluminum scrap that delivers both high strength and high ductility.

20× wear

A 3D-printed tooling material that outlasts the die.

Challenge

Die-casting tools wear out, and every tool change stops the line.

Approach

We are developing a wear-resistant tooling material for 3D printing, aimed at more than 500,000 shots per tool. Delivery is planned within six months.

Bioabsorbable

A bioabsorbable magnesium alloy for implants.

Challenge

Permanent implants often need a second surgery to remove. A metal that holds, then safely dissolves, avoids it.

Approach

With a university research partner, we are designing Mg–Ca–Zn alloys whose strength and corrosion rate are tuned to how the body heals. Phase 1 results are due in Q4 2026.

Sim ⇄ data

Casting simulation trained on real production data.

Challenge

Simulation is only as good as the data behind it, and physical tests are the slow step.

Approach

A leading casting-simulation platform learns from our production and experiment data, and we use its simulation to focus our rapid physical verification.
